I Told You by Richard Donnelly

I told you I don't do nothing
said a terrible looking man full
beard dirty creases broken nose
with rags for gloves The Melancholy MBA
in the cold March wind
standing by the TCF Building at
Sixth and Marquette

while two young people in scarves
interviewed him the small girl
with blonde highlights and her
darker twin a boy with a
camcorder come on they asked
what's it like

I don't know
what you're talking about he said
am I going to be on TV
because if I am I want to get paid
he reached into his coat and
pulled out half a cigarette hey

give us a light he said
but they didn't have a light and
while he got one from someone else
the girl pointed and said
hey Justin look
there's one over there
