The Melancholy MBA by Richard Donnelly

The Melancholy MBAa lot of little stuff
the new guy an MBA
from Cleveland said sitting
there tapping two computers
we asked him if he was following
the playoffs he said no
we asked if
he had been to Brits
on Hennepin
he said no he hadn't been
to Brits on Hennepin
we asked joking
and smiling if
his wife disapproved
of his going to bars after work
and he
didn't say anything

things went from bad to
worse the stock
went down and
down some more Baker
got fired
then Wendy who I never
really liked then my boss
found a new job in
St. Cloud and I knew it
wouldn't be long
on the last day I sat in Brits
with my third beer thinking
about that MBA
sitting in his chair unsmiling
with two
computers
realizing he was the last
thing I saw before turning
in my badge
and hearing
the magnetic door buzz
and clap shut behind me
